Volodymyr Groisman said during the question hour in the Verkhovna Rada, BusinessCensor reported quoting the Ukrainian News.
“I do not know how this initiative appeared. I, as the Prime Minister, am totally against it. Nothing will be cancelled for local budgets. We will keep this excise duty. Neither such initiative will originate from the government”, Groisman said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that his principled position is the support of decentralization.
Previously, during the association meeting with participation of Groisman, Chairperson of Kyiv City State Administration and Head of the Association of Cities Vitali Klitschko said that the cancellation of this excise duty will pose threat to the stability of replenishment of the revenues of local budgets, and was against such initiative.
It should be reminded that in February, the Ministry of Finance promulgated the draft amendments to the Tax Code, which suggest cancelling the excise duty on the retail trade in tobacco products.
As reported, the State Fiscal Service suggested setting minimum wholesale and retail prices for a pack of filtered cigarettes at UAH 21.1 and UAH 22.44 respectively, a pack of unfiltered cigarettes –UAH 18.25 and UAH 18.84.
