VTB can sell the Ukrainian BM Bank in May-June; the Ukrainian investor and the consortium of investors from the USA and Europe intend to purchase it, VTB’s First Deputy Chairman Yuri Soloviyov said to the journalists, according to Finance.UA materials.
“The timeline of such deals is 3-4 months. We have almost the same process with BM Bank in Ukraine. We have two groups of purchasers; now we have made agreements with them, we will submit the documents to NBU and expect for their permission. From this process we know that it will take minimum May-June from the point of agreement to the point of sale”, he reported.
“These are different groups of purchasers; there is even a competitive process there. The price parameters are almost the same; however, there are different purchasers, let’s see, how the regulator will view them”, Soloviyov said.
“One is the consortium of European and US investors, the other – local colleagues. There, the bank is really small; it practically reduces to the legal license and small office”, he added.
As known, in December, the Ukrainian bank VTB fell within US sanctions. Then, the bank claimed that it continues to work as usual, the sanctions did not affect its activities.
VTB Bank was founded in 1992. VTB Bank PJSC is the major shareholder of the bank (RF, 99.97%).
According to the data of the National Bank, as of October 1, 2015, VTB Bank ranked 12th in terms of total assets (UAH 25.279 bln) among 123 operating banks in the country.
