Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman stated that as part of the pension reform, the pensions will be raised for 9 mln pensioners and the taxation of pensions will be cancelled for working pensioners, he said during the press conference on April 11, EP reports.
“First, we need to build the fair system; it cannot be that 85% of pensioners live on the minimum pensions. We should overcome this system. The second position – we should build in medium term. I want that in 2024, instead of what we have 140 bln of the deficit of the Pension Fund today, we would come out and say that the deficit of the Pension Fund is zero or is close to zero”, the Prime Minister noted.
According to him, the decrease in the deficit will allow investing in the amount of pensions and the quality of life of Ukrainian citizens.
The third position is the reform, which will raise the pensions of Ukrainian citizens. We suggest raising pensions from October 1 for Ukrainian pensioners. We will make the aggiornamento of pensions for 5.6 mln citizens”, he added.
According to Groisman, about 1.3 mln will have their pension raised up to UAH 200. 1.2 will have the raise from UAH 200 to 500 each month. 1.93 will the raise from UAH 500 to 1,000.
“It is not a one-time charity, it is the regular system, which will allow people to obtain the raised pension in Ukraine. And other 1.1 mln pensioners will obtain more than UAH 1,000 in the system itself. We suggest implementing the reform, which will allow reaching 5.6 mln pensioners with such figures”, the Prime Minister noted.
He also noted that the government plans to approximate the indexation from December to October 1.
“And it will mean that 9 million pensioners out of 12 mln will obtain the raise of their pensions. And from October 1, we will suggest cancelling the taxation of pensions for working pensioners. We will raise pensions for 9 mln, we will cancel the taxation of pensions from October 1, and the only thing what we need is the support of the parliament”, he added.
It should be reminded that IMF claimed that Ukraine cannot delay the comprehensive reform, including through the raise of effective pension age.
