In March, the increase of deposit balances in national currency was 3.4%, NBU reports.
“In March, the increase of money supply by 1.3% up to 1,074.1 bln hryvnias was caused mainly by the increase of balances on deposits in national currency (by 3.4%)”, according to the message.
According to the National Bank, the corporate sector increased deposits by 3.7%, including in the national currency – by 4.7%. As per the results of March, the balances on business deposits in foreign currency (in dollar equivalent) increased by 2.4%.
“In March, the balances of deposits of households increased slower. The portfolio of UAH deposits of the public increased by 1.9% in foreign currency (in dollar equivalent) and decreased by 0.7%”, NBU states.
“The increase of deposits in the national currency is caused by the preservation of attractiveness of deposit products within the conditions of further hryvnia strengthening”, NBU noted.
