It can be signed on May 17.
The Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member Countries of the European Union (COREPER) approved the inclusion of Ukraine to the list of third countries, not requiring visa, President Petro Poroshenko said during the visit of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Station on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the accident on the station, Ukrainian News reports.
“COREPER, the European Council has just approved the landmark decision on the provision of visa-free regime to Ukraine. The doors of Europe are open for Ukraine”, Poroshenko said.
The voting for the draft law by the European Council, which will tentatively be held on May 11, will become the next procedural step for obtaining the visa-free regime for Ukraine.
Then decision will be signed (May 17)and published in the EU official journal (May 22).
The visa-free regime will actually come into force in 20 days after its publication – tentatively on June 11.
As Ukrainian News reported, on April 6, the European Parliament approved the provision of visa-free regime to Ukraine.
