Gazprom increased claims against Naftogaz of Ukraine in the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce from USD 31.7 billion to USD 37 billion, according to the Russian company’s report, RIA reports.
It also reported that Stockholm arbitration will pass the judgement on the claims of Russia’s Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine on June 30.
Gazprom and Naftogaz have legal proceedings in the Swedish court since June 2014. The claims regard to the contracts on the gas supply from Russia to Ukraine and transit through the Ukrainian territory dated 2009.
As reported, in June 2014, Gazprom applied to theArbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce with the request of arbitration for the debt recovery from Naftogaz for the gas, supplied in 2013-2014, as well as the funds as per the ‘take or pay’ formula.
On its part, Naftogaz filed a lawsuit on the retroactive price alteration, the refund of overpaid amounts and cancellation of the re-export ban. The court united both suits.
Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC indicated in its annual reporting that the reciprocal claims of Russia’s Gazprom and Naftogaz under the gas sale and purchase contract are about USD 45.7 bln dollars and 17.9 bln dollars respectively.
