In April 2017, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine sent a request for enforced collection of UAH 171.9 bln from Gazprom PJSC to the State Enforcement Service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, according to the report of the Russian monopolist, EP reports.

On May 12, Gazprom received through its Kyiv office the orders of the State Enforcement Service of the Ministry of Justice on initiating the enforcement proceeding for UAH 189.125 bln, including the amount of execution fee, equal to UAH 17.193 bln, and the seizure of Gaztransit JSC shares, belonging to the company.

As reported, in January 2016, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine decided to fine Gazprom for UAH 85 bln for the monopoly abuse on the natural gas transit market of Ukraine. Then, this decision was approved several times by Ukrainian courts.

Once again, on February 22, 2017, the Kyiv Appellate Economic Court kept in force the judgment of the lower court on the acknowledgement of collection of the fine from Gazprom, which increased up to UAH 172 bln (about USD 6.4 bln), owing to the penalty for its non-payment.

On March 17, 2017, the Kyiv Economic Court ruled to collect UAH 172 bln from the Russian company, based on the judgment, which came into legal force.

On April 11, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine sent the application for initiating the enforcement proceeding on the enforced collection of UAH 172 bln from Gazprom PJSC to the State Enforcement Office.

Previously, Gaztranzit decided to withdraw funds from Ukraine through the payment of UAH 209.066 million of dividends to its shareholders.
