This year, the consumption of organic products in Ukraine can reach 25 million euros, according to the opinion of Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Elena Kovaleva, UNN reports quoting the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
“I hope that the Ministry’s initiatives, such as the draft Law of Ukraine On Basic Principles and Requirements to Organic Production, Circulation and Marking of Organic Products, will become one of the impetuses towards the rapid development of Ukrainian organic market. There are some grounds to expect for the increase of internal organic market volume up to 25 mln euros this year, and then – each year’s increase by 15%”, the press office quotes the speech of Elena Kovaleva.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy jointly with the organic sector actively works on the improvement of the legislative base of Ukraine on organic production.
E. Kovaleva also expressed hope that the introduction of amendments to the organic legislation will have positive influence on the protection of organic market players from unfair competition and will ensure transparent conditions for doing business in the organic sphere.
In addition, she said that the new law will raise competitiveness of Ukrainian products and will expand the organic market.
According to UNN, the food product prices increased by 2.4% on the consumer’s market in May versus the previous month.
