The reduction of quotas may apply to honey, wheat, corn, tomatoes and carbamide.
Ukraine may be granted with trade preferences, in compliance with which the quotas for tomatoes, wheat, corn and honey will be reduced, the carbamide will be excluded from offers.
UNIAN reported about such result of trilateral negotiations, which happened in Tuesday in Strasburg.
“After stormy discussions we managed to reach compromise, on which all three institutions agreed (European Parliament, European Commission and Maltese Presidency). It envisages the provision of preferences to Ukraine for all agricultural products, proposed by the European Commission, while five of them are partially recovered, and the carbamide was removed from the industrial complex”, as said in the message.
In particular, the following annual quotas were set: honey – 2,500 tons, processed tomatoes – 3,000 tons, wheat – 65,000 tons, corn – 625,000 tons, barley – 325,000 tons.
“These reductions are the response to the sensitivity of some member countries in the agricultural sector”, as reported in the message.
In addition, the goods, which are exported from the territories, captured by separatists, will be the subject of additional checks.
The preferences will be introduced for three years as the annex to the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement.
