The European Parliament Committee on International Trade approved the preliminary agreements, reached under the inter-institutional negotiations with EU Council and the European Commission on the trade preferences for Ukraine.
The relevant voting was held on Tuesday in Brussels as part of the committee’s session, UNIAN reports.
“Accepted by Majority”, Committee’s Chairman Bernd Lange said.
Finally, this decision should be approved by the European Parliament at the plenary session in July.
As reported, on June 14, as the result of inter-institutional negotiations, the parties reached compromise, according to which the quotas for tomatoes, wheat, corn and honey will increase, but not in the same amount, as previously it was suggested by the European Commission; the carbamide was excluded from the list.
In particular, the following annual quotas were set: honey - 2.5 ths tons, processed tomatoes – 3 ths tons, wheat – 65 ths tons, corn – 625 ths tons, barley- 325 ths tons.
