International Airlines of Ukraine sued over the Ministry of Infrastructure, claiming to reimburse 20 mln hryvnias of losses, incurred because of the possible market entry of the low-cost airline Ryanair, Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian wrote in Facebook.
Omelian reported that IAU uses opportunities to block the market entry of low cost airlines to the country, as well as not to let Ukrainians to fly at much cheaper price to Europe or the world and to increase the tourist flow to Ukraine.
“Just to acknowledge my rightness, yesterday I received some IAU’s lawsuits, which consist in the following: to cancel the contract with Ryanair with Lviv airport; to forbid the Ministry to cooperate with Ryanair in Ukraine”, the minister wrote.
“And, the icing on the cake, due to the possible market entry of Ryanair to Ukraine, IAU will have to lower prices and incur losses. That is why the “national” air company requests the court to order the Ministry of Infrastructure to reimburse the dozens of millions of hryvnias of losses”, he added.
