Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman states that the food price surge is due to the increase of export volume, and forecasts the improvement of situation with prices in 2018.
“I do not see any conditions now that something will increase. We had price surge for vegetables, fruit, because the country did not have the sufficient harvest”, he said during the interview with 5 Channel on Thursday, Interfax reports.
The Prime Minister noted that the experts in this sphere do not share this position.
“Why did the prices increase? Because we became the exporting country and started to sell our provisions abroad”, Groisman said.
He added that currently, it is important to increase the production volume of agricultural products.
“Regarding prices, I look into 2018 more optimistically that it was in 2017”, Groisman said.
According to him, the pork price surge is also due to African pork price.
“But now we see as per live weight – I constantly analyze – there is a price reduction, for example, for pork – it is October-November”, the Prime Minister emphasized.
