According to Chairman of Ukrtransgas PJSC Pavel Stanchak, the interconnector with Poland will give Ukraine an opportunity to become a gas hub, Stanchak told during the Ukrainian-Polish Gas Forum in Wroclav, ET reports quoting Ukrinform.
“Firstly, we need to invest in Ukrainian gas storages, because they already exist and fulfil their tasks; secondly, Ukraine is open to Europe and moves in this direction”, he emphasized.
Stanchak added that current Ukraine’s capabilities need to be strengthened by additional gas pipelines, in particular, by the main interconnector gas pipeline “Drozdovichi-Bilche Volytsia”.
“This gas pipeline can give users an access to Europe’s largest Ukrainian gas storage with a capacity of 18 bln cubic meters and would help creating a gas hub”, Ukrtransgas’ Head stated.
It should be reminded that the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG considers Ukrainian gas market very prospective and plans to double gas export this year versus the last year.
