12 phones attempted to smuggle into Ukraine
Officers of Kyiv Interregional Customs Office of the Ministry of Revenues have detected a 26-year-old Ukrainian, who tried to illegally import 12 iPhone 5S mobile phones for 16 GB and 64 GB into the territory of Ukraine, taking advantage of the «green corridor», the press service of the Ministry of Revenues informs.
The incident took place at «Kyiv» international airport (Zhuliany) at customs control of passengers arriving from Russia's «Vnukovo». Operatives of the Ministry of Revenues have found that one of the citizens was carrying 14 mobile phones.
A closer inspection of baggage and personal effects discovered 12 new Apple iPhones 5S in their original packaging with the complete set of accompanying accessories and 2 iPhones 4 and iPhones 5 with signs of use.
2 mobile phones permitted by the law were returned to the citizen, while the rest have been seized based on detected infringement of customs rules under Art. 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
The value of the goods seized is currently established and materials are being prepared to be submitted to the court, which will rule on the detected violation.
