Ukrzaliznytsia and U.S. company General Electric Transportation reached agreement on the key terms of long-term partnership, EP reports, Chairman of the Office of the National Investment Council of Ukraine Yulia Kovaliv wrote in Facebook.
“The partnership between companies envisages the supply and localization of production of locomotives of GE Evolution model in Ukraine, modernization of the operating fleet of locomotives and investments in their maintenance service in Ukraine”, she noted.
She also noted that Ukraine’s entry of one of the largest U.S. companies will become a powerful signal for other foreign investors, CEO of Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed at his page. He noted that UZ will receive 30 new locomotives of General Electric.
The agreement on the strategic partnership should be signed by the end of this year. The implementation of the program is planned for 7 years.
As reported, in early August 2017, Ukrzaliznytsia and General Electric signed the letter of intention to jointly carry out modernization of the Ukrainian fleet of diesel locomotives and construction of new ones.
The signed document also speaks of the maintenance service of diesel locomotives.
