In early 2018, the General Prosecutor’s Office plans to return other 5 billion hryvnias to the budget, which were illegally obtained by the ex-President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovich and his surrounds, General Prosecutor Yuri Lutsenko said in the interview to Ukrainian TV channels on December 26, Radio Liberty reports.
“I hope that this time, the government will be more organized and we will help them by initiating some criminal proceedings on those, who negligently obtained funds and cannot bring them to people”, the General Prosecutor said.
Lutsenko noted that out of 22 billion hryvnias of previously specially confiscated funds, which were distributed in June, only 5 billion were utilized as of December 1.
“It means in legal language the negligence of the officials, who take over funds and cannot utilize them”, Lutsenko noted.
The state budget for 2018 includes 4.7 billion hryvnias of receipts from special confiscation.
