The Head of Anticorruption Bureau considers that the authority, responsible for verifying declarations, does not work and perform its functions.
Head of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk told during interview with Reuters that the electronic declaration of revenues of the officials is under threat, because the National Anticorruption Agency (NAA) virtually does not check declarations, Correspondent.net reports.
“The authority, responsible for verifying these declarations, does not work. The electronic declaration… could be a very effective tool for anticorruption, but, unfortunately, as this authority (NAA) was not actually created and did not start its work, the tool is under threat now”, Sytnyk said.
The agency notes that NAA did not comment NABU director’s statements, but previously the absence of software and bureaucratic obstacles are called as the reason for inability to process hundreds of thousands of declarations.
Previously, European Commissioner Johannes Khan stated that the problem of verifying electronic declarations is clearly connected with NAA’s understaffing as well as the shortage of necessary equipment.
