EU institutions are ready to finance infrastructure projects, which are targeted at approximation of Ukrainian transport corridors with European ones, Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan said during the joint briefing with EC’s Director-General for Mobility and Transport Henrik Hololei, CTS reports.
In particular, the European Commission stated that it is ready to co-finance construction of the motorway Odessa-Gdansk and railroad with the track of European standard of 1,435 mm from Lviv to the western border as well as the part of eurotrack in Mukachevo.
“We found out that one of financial instruments of the European Union is ready to finance the part of Go Highway, our project, which will unite the Baltics and the Black Sea. The possibility of co-funding the eurotrack is also considered”, Omelyan reported.
The Minister noted that the negotiations with EU on the volumes of co-funding are still continuing.
“At this stage, we speak about connecting Lviv with Polish border by the eurotrack. There is also a prospect of the eurotrack, which will unite Budapest with Mukachevo. We hope that these projects will start and, possibly, be completed in this year, especially in case of Muchachevo”, Omelyan noted regarding the railroad.
It should be reminded that the State Highway Agency planned to create the high-speed road service between Gdansk and Odessa.
The State Highway Agency of Ukraine also intends to implement the project of a new autobahn Lviv-Budapest through Dyida checkpoint.
