The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine denied approval of prolongation of 27 special permissions for Ukrnafta PJSC and 37 for Ukrgasvydobuvannya for natural resources management due to the absence of ecologic examinations, acting Head of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine Oleg Kyryliuk said during press-conference in Kyiv on Thursday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“The Ministry of Ecology decided to deny approval of prolongation of 27 special permission of Ukrnafta due to the absence of ecological examination”, he said.

O. Kyryliuk added that the same situation is with the prolongation of special permissions of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.

In 2018, Ukrgasvydobuvannya should prolong about 37 special permissions. The company applied to the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine, and we – to the Ministry of Ecology, where Ukrgasvydobuvannya also obtained denial for conducting the ecological examination”, he said.

O. Kyryliuk added that currently, Ukrnafta already started remedying breaches. He promised that immediately after conducting the necessary evaluation of the impact on natural environment, the companies will have the opportunity to prolong their permissions.

The Head of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine also informed that the application of Ukrgasvydobuvannya for obtaining new special permissions on the shelf of the Black Sea were rejected due to the negative position of Odessa Regional Council. Currently, this question is being considered in the court.
