For Ukrainians, the gas will decrease in price not earlier than 2020.
Ukraine will be able to independently form the gas price inside the country, when it starts exporting this resource. It should happen approximately in 2020.
The gas price for consumers in Ukraine can decrease only when the country stops importing it, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman said during the question hour, Ukrinform reports.
“We need to stop importing gas. We concentrated on the program of increasing Ukrainian gas production. Last year, Ukrgasvydobuvannya increased production by 700 mln cubic meters. The gas price is formed according to market conditions”, Groisman noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine can independently form the gas price inside the country when it starts exporting the resource that will happen approximately in 2020.
“The government does not have any powers to regulate commercial gas prices in the country. Consequently, Naftogaz of Ukraine NJSC is absolutely the independent state company and approves decisions upon its discretion”, Groisman added.
