President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the order on appointment of new members of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, the president’s press office reports.
“I am sure that the commission will work as the independent regulator, which will be able to ensure effective functioning of the market. I consider that the competition commission selected deserving candidates, who will fulfill their obligations in a responsible manner”, the President emphasized.
The President also particularly noted that Ukrainian citizens should feel these changes: “We should take care about the transparent formation of tariffs”.
He also emphasized that NEURC work should be transparent and understandable for the citizens, ensure the effective anticorruption component and be clear for international partners.
“It is a very important process of implementation of the Law on National Regulator in Energy and Utility Services”, Poroshenko said.
It should be reminded that previously, ET wrote that Elena Antonova (DTEK employee), Alexander Formagei (worked for Centrenergo, and Ukrhydroenergo), Dmitri Kovalenko (employee of the NERC (Energy Department) and Ukrenergo), Evgeni Magliovanny (employee of State Energy Effectiveness, previously worked in NERC, specializing in utility sector) and Oksana Krivenko (employee of the NERC (Oil & Gas Department)) will become new commissioners.
On May 30, President Petro Poroshenko signed the order on dismissing Dmitri Vovk from the position of the Chairman of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission.
