The International Financial Corporation (IFC) can acquire a share in Ukrgasbank’s capital (Kyiv) by the year-end, Acting Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova informed during interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“I think that the International Financial Corporation can acquire the share in Ukrgasbank’s capital by the year-end. Today, the bank fulfilled all the requirements in terms of the memorandum, roadmap and policy”, Markarova stated.
“The only thing left is to update the composition of the supervisory board in accordance with IFC comments”, she said.
Markarova also informed that EBRD intends to acquire a share in the capital of Oshchadbank (Kyiv).
“Just as Oshchadbank and EBRD. This process is hampered by only one – the exclusion of the bank from the list of companies, banned for privatization. Hope that with this piecemeal change, the Verkhovna Rada will support us”, the Acting Minister of Finance noted.
“After that, we will move quite actively. During Monday meeting with EBRD’s President Suma Chakrabarti in London, he confirmed the bank’s interest in acquiring a share. If in September the Parliament allows EBRD to acquire a minority shareholding in Oshchadbank, then probably, by the year-end, we succeed with it”, - she said.
Markarova also informed that currently, the assessment of the non-performing portfolio of state banks is being discussed with potential partners.
Ukrgasbank was created in 1993; as of January 1, 2018, the state, represented by the Ministry of Finance, owned 94.94% of its shares. According to NBU data, as of January 1, Ukrgasbank ranks 4th in terms of the assets value (UAH 80.106 bln) among 84 operating banks.
