The agreement covers a wide range of business areas
Google and Samsung have signed a global cross-licensing agreement that aims to reduce the risks of litigation between the companies. This agreement will allow focusing on innovation, ignoring legal issues. Terms of the agreement apply to all existing patents, as well as those that will be created over 10 years, the BBC News informs.
Companies have been closely cooperating for a long time. For example, Samsung uses the Android mobile operating system, which was developed by Google.
Samsung authorities announced that deal with Google is important for the industry of high technology. Also, it was noted that signing the agreement reduces likelihood of the intellectual property disputes between the two organizations.
It is expected that this move will strengthen the position of Samsung in the global market in relation to competitors like Apple. Last year, the U.S. company has filed several lawsuits worth billions of dollars for patent infringement by South Korean manufacturer. Apple argued that Samsung developers copied the design of its most popular lineup Galaxy from a mobile phone IPhone.
