Naftogaz Ukraine’s press-office reports
On September 7, 2014, JSC Ukrtransgaz completed all works at the gas compressor station in Uzhgorod to assure its technical capabilities are sufficient enough to receive natural gas from neighbouring Slovakia. The works have been done as scheduled, at the company’s expense.
The working arrangements between the operators of the gas distribution network in Ukraine (PJSC Ukrtransgaz) and Slovakia (Eustream a.s.) specify technical aspects relating to cross-border cooperation, interaction while exploiting natural resources and gas accounting issues.
It is worth noting that on April 28, 2014, PJSC Ukrtransgaz and Eustream a.s. signed the memorandum of understanding as regards reverse gas supplies to Ukraine.
At the beginning of July the Slovakian operator Eustream reported it had fulfilled the requirements of the Open Season procedure, having accepted the applications for gas supply to Ukraine from the territory of Slovakia. Nearly two dozen European suppliers showed their interest for reverse gas flows to Ukraine through Slovakia, what implies, as stated in the memorandum, Slovakia can start delivering gas as soon as September 1, 2014.
