The British scientist Stephen Hawking forecast the imminent doomsday in the nearest millennium. He made this statement while delivering speech at the Oxford Student Debate Society, according to The Daily Mail, Lenta.ru reports.
The famous physicist is sure that all life on Earth will disappear by virtue of nuclear war, artificial intelligence activities or genetically engineered virus. Hawking traditionally encouraged people to escape the planet and emphasized the need to create advanced technologies for distant space flights.
In addition, the researcher averred that, for the past 50 years, the science advanced considerably, and the humankind approached to understanding of the Universe. Hawking himself expressed joy that he was involved in the creation of several theories. Finally, the scientist hoped that in the nearest future the researchers will be able to use gravitational waves in order to “view the Big Bang, what it was”.
At the end of his speech, Hawking encouraged the audience to lift up their heads and contemplate stars, but not just sit, staring at their own legs.
