The regulatory authorities consider that Apple was the operator of the company, dealing with utilization of electronic devices, but did not inform authorities about it, TASS reports.
Apple agreed to pay USD 450 ths to the authorities of the State of California for dropping charges of environmental pollution, according to the statement of the State’s Toxic Substances Control Department, published on Tuesday.
Pursuant to the document, the regulatory authorities consider that from 2011 to 2012 Apple was the operator of the company, dealing with utilization of electronic devices, located in Cupertino (State of California). Then this facility was transferred to Sunnyvale (State of California) and closed in 2013. The department employees claim that in both cases Apple did not report to the authorities what it had to do under the law.
According to the statement, a total of one million different electronic elements, including batteries, were processed at Cupertino and Sunnyvale facilities. In the meantime, the emissions, dangerous for environment, including metal dust, might have place.
As Apple claims, the authorities were not timely informed due to mistakes, made while preparing documents.
The company agreed to pay the specified amount and undertake additional security measures in its facilities if the authorities waive claims. The relevant agreement was approved by Santa Clara County Court (State of California).
