The brother and nephew of former UN Secretary-General are charged with conspiracy to bribery of official representatives of Middle East countries.
US authorities pressed charges against the brother and nephew of Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in the case of bribery, Correspondent.net reports quoting Reuters.
The case was brought before Manhattan court. According to the documents, former UN Secretary-General’s nephew Bahn Joo Hyun and his brother Ban Ki-sang are charged with conspiracy to bribery of official representatives of Middle East countries.
According to agency’s information, the case is related to attempted sale of complex of buildings in Vietnam for the amount of 800 million dollars.
Ban Ki-moon’s nephew works as a real estate agent in New York; and his brother is the senior advisor in South Korean construction company Keangnam Enterprises Co Ltd.
Ban Ki-moon claimed that he does not know the details of charges, pressed against his relatives, and UN reported that they do not have commentary on this issue.
