The main aspects of controversies with RF refer to the situation in Ukraine and illegal annexation of the Crimea, Correspondent.net reports.
President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker told about the necessity of resuming relations between Russia and the European Union in his interview to Adeval.ro.
“It is true that our relations with Russia are already not the same as they were, and not the same as we would like them to be”, Juncker noted.
According to him, the aspects, which led to controversies, refer to the situation in Ukraine and the illegal annexation of the Crimea.
“Nevertheless, our communication channels should remain open”, he said.
“I am confident that there is common interest in improving the relations. Today, the world undoubtedly needs cooperation, but not the confrontation in terms of economy and security as well as geopolitics”, President of the European Commission emphasized.
Previously Juncker stated that the European Union does not consider changing the decision regarding the sanctions against Russia.
