U.S. suspect Russian hackers of arranging the Qatari crisis.
The U.S. law enforcement considers that Russian hackers hacked into the state news agency of Qatar and posted a fake news item, which contributed to the crisis among U.S. close allies near the Persian Gulf, Correspondent.net reports, quoting CNN.
The experts, sent by FBI to Doha to assist in investigating the hacker attack, drew such conclusions. In their opinion, the purpose of cyber criminals was to cause a quarrel between the U.S. and its Middle Eastern allies. However, it is still not clear whether the investigators suspect private individuals or representatives of intelligence agencies.
“The data, collected by U.S. security services, indicated that the Russian hackers are involved in the attack, on which the Qatari government reported two weeks ago”, the TV channel reported.
In May, it was reported that some countries blocked the news from Qatar about good Iran and the criticism against U.S. President Donald Trump. Qatar reported that this news was published as the result of a hacker attack and thus is not true.
It should be reminded that on June 5, Saudi Arabia, Bahrein, UAE and Egypt announced about the rupture of diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorist organizations and destabilization of the situation in the Middle East. As the result, the authorities of the eastern part of Lebanon, Yemen, Maldives and Mauritius also announced the rupture of relations with Qatar.
