The summit will be held as a series of closed meetings
Summit of the Forum "Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation" (APEC) started on the island of Bali (Indonesia) that will discuss issues of commercial and investment liberalization and economic activities in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR), as well as current global and regional issues. For 8 October informal meeting of leaders is scheduled, UNIAN reports.
According to the press service of the President of the Russian Federation, the Bali summit, as usual, will be held in the form of two closed sessions and two working breakfasts of Heads of State and Government. 7 October the meeting of leaders with the prominent representatives of regional business circles is scheduled - Plenary Session of the Dialogue with members of the Business Advisory Council (BAC) of APEC - and talks with members of the OCD in small groups.
Working breakfast "Sustainable growth on an equitable basis" will discuss building multi-faceted cooperation for reducing disparities, improving quality of life and protecting the environment in the Asia-Pacific region, to ensure effective management of food, energy and water resources. First closed session (dedicated to the role of APEC in strengthening regional economy and multilateral trading system in the context of preparations for the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference in December on Bali) will open with a speech of the Russian President on the outcome of the September Summit "Group of Twenty" in St. Petersburg. Putin is also expected to speak at a business summit of APEC on "New sources of sustainable and long-term economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region". 8 October will take place an informal meeting of national leaders with the "guests of the head" of the forum - heads of a number of small island states in the Pacific (Kiribati, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands).
Summit will end with a working breakfast and the ceremony of publication of the final documents - the Declaration of the leaders of APEC economies and Statements of the heads of state in support of multilateral trading system. The share of APEC economies, representing about 40% of the world's population, accounts for 57% of global GDP, 48% of the turnover of international trade. The forum is attended by 21 countries and territories of APR.
