Penalties for drivers to increase

The Cabinet of Ministers supported the bill, which proposes to increase fines for drivers that violate traffic safety, ass reported in the Information newsletter of the Cabinet.

As per the document, operating a vehicle with a fault in the brake system, steering control, etc., when operating a car is prohibited, as well as the refurbishment of cars in violation of the rules, including tinting windows in violation of the standards it has been proposed to increase the fine from 340-510 UAH to 510-680 UAH.

For violation of the rules of using seat belts or helmets it is offered to impose fines from 170 to 340 UAH.

The draft law also stipulates that penalties for violations of crossroads passage, disregard of prohibitive traffic signal or gesture of the traffic controller, use of outdoor lighting violating the standards, using the mobile phone without hands-free devices, it is proposed to impose a fine of 425-510 UAH to 510-595 UAH.

The document also specifies that the damage to roads, streets, road facilities, obstruction to movement, including the installation of roadway objects that prevent the passage of vehicles or stop, fines will be 340-510 UAH (or 30-40 hours of community service).

For non-compliance with legitimate demands of MOI officers that enforce road safety to eliminate violations of the traffic rules the drivers will have to pay a fine of 680 -1020 UAH (for officials - 1190 to 1700 UAH).

Police will also be entitled «to carry out in the manner prescribed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine the control of technical condition of vehicles during their operation».
