The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has opened a new program “Fintecc”, which will help Ukrainian banks to invest in energy-saving technologies. As part of the new program Ukraine will obtain more than USD 50 million, the EBRD Director for Ukraine Sevki Acuner said during the press conference in Kyiv, the press-service of State Energy Efficiency informs, UNN reports.
“The Fintecc program is intended for three years and is supported by grant financing in the amount of USD 7 million from the Global Ecologic Fund and USD 4 million – from the Investment Fund “Neighborhood of European Union”. It will help Ukrainian companies to invest in best available technologies and should lead to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This can be technologies of efficient use of energy, materials and water as well as technologies of renewable energy, which are not very widespread”, he said.
S. Acuner also added that as part of this program, EBRD plans to disburse loans, amounting up to EUR 40 mln.
According to Terry McCallion, the Director of Energy Efficiency and Climate Change at EBRD, each participant of the program can obtain grants in the amount, covering from 5% to 25% of the cost of the project, but not more than USD 1 million.
“We expect that about 15 projects will be realized in Ukraine. On average, USD 0.5 million of grant funds will be allocated”, he said.
It should be reminded that, as UNN reported, the former Secretary General of NATO urged to count on biofuel rather than the Russian gas.
Currently about 250 ths tons of bioethanol are produced and sold through the chains of domestic fuel filling stations.
It should be also reminded that UNN journalists have conducted their own investigation of the quality of ecologic petrol in the independent laboratory.
According to the obtained results, the ecological fuel, which meets all the quality standards, is sold at WOG and ANP filling stations.
It should be also reminded that according to the expert A. Pushak, the alternative fuel, containing bioethanol, gives 40-50 times less emissions into the atmosphere during the combustion.
