The Verkhovna Rada did not ratify the agreement with Qatar on the mutual protection of investments, Speaker Andrei Parubii announced during the Parliament’s meeting, EP reports.
The deputies, present in the hall, voted to adopt Draft Law No. 0197 On Ratification of Agreement On Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments between Ukrainian and Qatari Governments.
At least 226 votes were required, 197 deputies voted for and the draft was declared rejected.
According to the explanatory note, the adoption of the law could create a legal basis for further development of the favorable investment climate, provide opportunity for foreign investors to use international legal mechanisms for protecting investments.
The agreement was signed on March 20, 2018 in Doha.
It should be reminded that Ukraine and Qatar also held talks on Qatari liquefied gas supplies.
