The Japanese payment system JCB intends to start operating in Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported in Facebook.
“JSC - the largest payment system of Japan and one of five world’s largest payment systems in terms of the volume of issued payment cards and the volume of goods and services payment transactions – is interested in entering the Ukrainian market”, the message says.
General Manager of the System Takashi Suetsugu reported that he already intends to submit the respective documents package to the regulator asap.
In his part, NBU Governor Yakov Smolii welcomed JCB intention to work in Ukraine, noting that the National Bank is for the competitive environment on the payment market and the unified rules of regulation for all participants.
According to data of the international payment system JCB, as of late 2017, JCB cardholders were 117 mln clients. The total annual volume of transactions of the payment system JCB is $281 bln. As of now, the JCB payment cards are serviced in 190 countries of the world. JSB payment cards are issued in 23 countries of the world.
