4 leading manufacturers should not hamper trade
The Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine has recommended top 4 tobacco manufacturers to refrain from any action or inaction that can in any manner hinder other companies to access the market, the press-office of the AMCU reports.
Quite a number of appeals submitted by tobacco retailers to the Ukraine’s Anti-Monopoly Committee reporting reduction in competition and worsening of the situation in the tobacco wholesale market gave a ground to the Committee, which seeks to prevent breach of the economic completion law, to set forth recommendations to be obligatory considered by the four leading tobacco manufacturers, namely: JSC Philip Morris Ukraine (Kharkov oblast, Communist village); PJSC JTI International Ukraine (Poltava oblast, Kremenchug city); PJSC Imperial Tobacco Production Ukraine (Kyiv city); PJSC В.А.Т.- Pryluky (Chernihov oblast, Pryluky city): to abstain from action or inaction that can impede other producers having relevant licenses for retail or wholesale trade in tobacco products to enter the market.
The recommendations also given to the biggest trader in tobacco products - Megapolis-Ukraine Ltd. trading company (Ternopyl city) are about measures to be undertaken in order to create beneficial prerequisites that can help increase competition in the wholesale tobacco market, it is applied to the supply of tobacco products to retailers, in relation to setting the mark-up particularly.
The economic entities should inform the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine of the outcomes within five days since the date of receipt.
