Loss of 20% of deposits
Since the beginning of 2014 the citizens of Ukraine have withdrawn 70 billion hryvnias from their accounts, said Prime-Minister of Ukraine Arseny Yatsenyuk earlier today when reporting to the Verkhovna Rada on one-hundred days of the government, The RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Украина) reports.
«Since the year beginning we’ve lost 20% of deposits... The Ukrainians withdrew 70 billion hryvnias in total», - said Arseny Yatsenyuk.
According to the Prime-Minister, the today’s government budget shortfall entails shortage of of loan funding for the economy.
«The more the NBU refinances, the more devaluation pressure on the hryvnia exchange rate is. The less the NBU refinances, the lesser the loans issued by banks», - he explained.
However, the Prime-Minister assures, in the recent days the situation has improved.
«In the recent 10 days people have begun to put their funds back again on the bank accounts. An increment is low - only 0,4%», - noted A.Yatsenyuk.
