Holding a regular currency auction
On September 23, 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine held a regular currency auction, the bank’s press-office reports.
67 banks filed their applications for participation in the auction, the total amount of foreign currency they suggested to buy totalled $160.447 million. The highest exchange rate was 14.25 hryvnias for one dollar, with $1 million in total according to the applications. The cut-off rate stood at 13.75 hryvnias for one US dollar. The National Bank of Ukraine accepted 38 applications with total amount of $111.90 million.
The next foreign currency auction will take place on September 25, 2014. In case of growth in demand in the market, the regulator can additionally sell $200 million in the interbank market.
