The National Bank of Ukraine will reject the indicative rate of hryvnia, said NBU Deputy Chief for General Economic Development Sergy Nikolaichuk at the press-conference held in Kyiv, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
“We’ve stopped carrying out daily foreign exchange auctions and refused to set an indicative exchange rate starting February 5. The hryvnia rate will be set by banks taking into account actual market demand and supply”, - noted Nikolaichuk.
“This will eliminate uncertainty when it comes to establishing the pricing mechanism, refinance mortgage and currency exchange rates in the interbank market, as well as viability of the NBU monetary system“, - he added.
In his opinion, the decision has been adopted according to the recommendations given by the Committee on Monetary Policy, upon the analysis of prospects for the economy and money market.
“The core changes imply strengthening viability of refinancing and keeping the refinance rate, as the basic rate, more stable. The interest rates to maintain liquidity will be defined depending on the refinance rate”, - said the NBU representative.
