The informal economy in Ukraine makes up 67%, commented Deputy Minister for Finance Elena Makeieva to journalists at the first All-Ukrainian Forum "The Future of Cash Market Turnover in Ukraine: Transparency, Equality, Responsibility", held in Kyiv, RBK-Ukraine (РБК-Україна) reports.
"Today some pay taxes, others do not pay. And a number of those who pay no taxes are tremendous. According to the data from the Ministry of Economy, in 2014 underground business was 42%. According to our estimates, they are more numerous. Owing to industrial platforms, I’ve realized that the rate is higher, because we’ve assessed statistics in light industry. Upon calculations, the informal economy reaches 67%. You know, only 33% pay taxes, while the remaining 67% - don’t. But we strive for fair taxation, to refill the government coffer by revenues from income tax deducted by everyone who works and obtains profit in Ukraine", said Makeieva.
