The Minister of Finance stated that for the first time Ukraine is ready for a new heating season.
Ukraine is fully secured with financial resources for gas purchase for the heating season of 2016-2017, stated Minister of Finance Natalia Yaresko at the hour of government in the Verkhovna Rada, Correspondent.net reports.
“For the first time in the history of independence we are financially ready for the next heating season”, she said.
The Minister of Finance hailed the parliamentary approval of the draft law №3388, developed by the Ministry, according to which government can sign the program on 5-year revolving underwriting facility from World Bank for $500 mln for gas purchase.
“Along with the previously signed agreement with EBRD for $300 mln and agreement with the International Financial Corporation for $200 mln now we have the opportunity to attract from international financial institutions financial the resources in the amount of $1 bln for the purchase of natural gas from European suppliers”, said Yaresko.
According to the Minister of Finance, by virtue of attracted funds Ukraine will be able to purchase gas at the lowest prices and to fully use reverse from Europe.
Previously the Ministry of Energy reported that Ukraine plans to purchase 11-13 billion of cubic meters of gas in 2016.
