The National Bank has deferred the question on acquisition of the majority shareholding of “Platinum Bank” by the chairman of its supervisory board Hrihorii Hurtovoi, in connection with information about his arrest in Israel, the Acting Deputy Governor of the NBU Ekaterina Rozhkova said during the press conference, Economic Truth reports.
“The news, which we learnt yesterday, makes us work to obtain additional information”, she said.
Ryzhkova specified that the regulator will apply with the request to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for obtaining precise information.
As it was previously reported, on February 17, Israel’s Securities Authority applied to court with the request to arrest Hrihorii Hurtovoi, the owner of BGI Holding, controlling the large supplier of food products “Willi Food”.
During the period between 1998 and 2012 Hurtovoi occupied the post of the chief executive officer and co-chairman of the supervisory board of “Aerosvit”.
At the same time, since 2005 he worked in the financial sector – investment company “Renaissance Capital Ukraine”, the exchange committee of the Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange and the supervisory board of Finbank.
In September 2013, he was appointed as the managing partner of GHP Group Ukraine (previously – Fleming Family & Partners).
Since that year he became the managing director of the direct investment fund “European Infrastructure Investment Company” (EIIC, Luxembourg), which was the main shareholder of “Platinum Bank” and the chairman of the supervisory board of this bank.
