The Head of the Polish MFA Witold Waszczykowski forecasts that during the today’s summit EU will succeed in reaching the final agreement with Turkey on the case of decision of the immigration crisis, Polish radio reports.

However, the Minister warns that this will not solve all the problems, related to the refugee influx. According to Witold Waszczykowski, the most important issue is the speed of implementation of all points of mutual understanding. The Polish Minister skeptically assessed the mechanism, which will have the purpose of stopping the refugee influx to Europe. It refers to how the so-called hot spots, in which immigrants will be registered, will be opened on the territory of Turkey. After such qualification the refugees will be accepted in Europe. “This is a very complicated operation – the Minister of Foreign Affairs said. – unfortunately, it can fail”. 

Witold Waszczykowski assures that due to the new agreement with EU and Turkey, the additional obligations, related to acceptance of refugees, will not be imposed on Poland. The Head of the Polish MFA added that during conversations with EU colleagues Polish politicians very often raise the question of relocation of refugees in Poland. This section in current conditions does not make sense, - Waszczykowski notes, - “first of all, because there are no jobs for refugees in Poland as well as there are no jobs for the Polish, as it is evidenced by economic emigration”. That’s why, the minister adds, most refugees, who would arrive to Poland, would leave for other countries, where they could receive better social aid and find a job.

In Witold Waszczykowski’s opinion, the mutual understanding with Turkey and the Balkan route are not the only questions, which Europe should consider. According to the minister, recently he talked to the UN representative, who warned that on the Lebanese coast there are several thousands of people, who are waiting for better weather to sail to Europe through the Mediterranean sea. “Unfortunately, we can expect for the next influx of large emigration from those territories”, the minister added.
