Prime-Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman counts on creation of the Energy Efficiency Fund in 2016 and its launch in 2017, he said today during the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum, RBC-Ukraine reports.
“Today we will discuss the question of creation of the Energy Efficiency Fund. I think that this is such mechanism, which will allow investing in energy efficiency, while becoming more competitive. Such mechanism is necessary. I would like that the outcome of our discussion becomes the possibility of taking the decision jointly with people’s deputies of Ukraine that such fund is created by late 2016 and we can start its operation from 2017”, - he said.
According to the Prime Minister, this will provide an opportunity to invest more resources and be a more competitive country.
“For 2015-2016 the program reached development and currently 300 ths Ukrainian families have resources for making thermal modernization, and subsequently save their own funds, which were previously spent on purchasing heating, produced from Russian gas. We have the amount of such investments of about UAH 3 bln”, Hroisman said.
The head of government also reminded that for 2016 it is envisaged by the state budget of Ukraine to invest UAH 700 mln in energy efficiency sector.
Meanwhile, he expressed understanding that this amount can be not sufficient in 2016.
