President Petro Poroshenko has met with the doctor, volunteer, director of Humanitarian Initiatives of Ukrainian World Congress Ulyana Suprun, the press-office of the official website of the President of Ukraine reports.

Petro Poroshenko congratulated Ulyana Suprun on the anniversary of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship and offered to work on the improvement of healthcare system in the Ministry. “Today the situation in healthcare reaches the level of protection of national security”, President emphasized. The President said that he applied to government with request to appoint her to the post of the Deputy Minister of Healthcare.

“I count on you very much. Previously we gave attention to military medicine and our soldiers were provided with medicine assistance, medicine boxes, medical services. But now the task is more ambitious”, President said.

The President emphasized that the primary goal is the development and approval of strategy of reforming the healthcare industry. The President applied to Ulyana Suprun with the request to prepare proposals and submit them for consideration of the society by joint efforts with the Government and the Verkhovna Rada as soon as possible. The President said that the draft strategy of reforming the healthcare industry will be considered at NSDCU meeting.

The President called the corruption in healthcare system as the main challenge. “This sphere was always the symbol of corruption: in pharmacology, medical services, medical equipment procurement and construction of new hospitals. The transparent and effective procedure will gain trust among people”, - the President emphasized.

In her turn, Ulyana Suprun noted: “If it is the national will, then we’ll succeed in it. With your support we’ll be able to overcome many difficulties”. She agreed with the necessity of fast development and approval of strategy of healthcare reform and its presentation to citizens, so “they understand, why the system changes, and are not afraid of these changes”.
