Turchinov discussed the question of search and return of Yanukovych’s funds with US Under Secretary of Finance, Correspondent.net reports.
USA and Ukraine will cooperate on search and return of funds, withdrawn from the country by the former president Viktor Yanukovych and his company. The relevant question was discussed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov during the meeting with US Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Adam Szubin, NSDC administration reported on Wednesday, July 20.
The parties also discussed the issues of joint fighting against money-laundering and terrorism financing. Szubin expressed hope for close cooperation between two countries on fighting against terrorism financing and money-laundering.
Also, during the conversation the parties discussed the issue of introduction of sanctions in regard to financial institutions, operating on occupied territories. According to the Under Secretary of Finance, taking into account the continuation of aggression against Ukraine, USA will endorse prolongation of sanctions against RF.
“I think that today Ukraine is under strong loads of fighting against forces, which try to destabilize the life of country and people”, he said, noting that USA will further support Ukraine in its civilizational choice.
