The receipt of the next loan tranche from the International Monetary Fund will contribute to strengthening the national currency of Ukraine, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Alexander Danyliuk said, EP reports.
“The receipt of the next tranche, which will be targeted at the reserves of the National Bank, is the strengthening of the national currency. It is positive, positive for currency, for economy. Because all these scary stories regarding the increase in exchange rate are groundless”, the minister said.
The Minister noted that the program between Ukraine and IMF is targeted at overcoming crisis in Ukraine and raising the competitive capacity of the national economy that it can develop with the assistance of external lenders.
“We will not work for these loans. Now, we are busy with changing the economy, implementation of important reforms, which will make our economy stronger. Then, we should just repay this loan”, Danyliuk added.
It should be reminded that on April 3, the IMF Board of Governors approved the allocation of the next tranche to Ukraine as the part of mechanism of the extended financing for the amount of about USD 1 billion.
The Prime Minister Groisman said that the funds will be transferred to NBU for replenishment of gold and currency reserves.
