Kernel, one of the largest agricultural holdings of Ukraine, criticized Groisman’s statement regarding the land reform, according to the message of the agricultural holding, EP reports.

Kernel called the recent statement of the Prime Minister as the political step:

“The statement of Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman on the granting of the right to purchase the land with the total area of up to 200 hectares by exclusively individuals is not more than the political step and does not have anything common with the real reform”, according to the statement.

The agricultural holding considers that the Ukrainian individuals do not have financial and other resource capacities for purchasing and cultivating the land: “During the sale, the shareholders will not obtain the actual price for shares due to the absence of demand”.

“At the same time, the activities, which are not economically successful with the land bank of 200 ha, are the basis for the agrarian sector of Ukraine”, Kernel reports. 

“In the existing situation, we consider it right to keep the moratorium in force, before the weighted consolidated position of the authorities is worked out, taking into account the interests of land owners and the economy of Ukraine”, according to the statement.

It should be reminded that the other day, the government stated that in Ukraine, it is possible to launch the sale of agricultural lands, but not more than 200 hectares.

“We need to implement the land reform in order to liquidate the corruption deals…The sale of land should be possible. But it should be limited to 200 hectares in order not to let large landowners purchase everything”, Groisman noted.

It should be reminded that the International Monetary Fund expects that the Verkhovna Rada approves the draft law on the launch of the land market as well as cancels the moratorium on the sale of agricultural lands.
