The mass lending will start in Ukraine not earlier than in two years.
Only after the reduction of revenues of state papers, the banks will start lending, EBRD Managing Director for Eastern European Francis Malige, Finance.ua reports.
“The today’s Ukrainian banking sector lends little. The problem in very high rates for state papers and deposit certificates of the National Bank, the banker said. – If the National Bank continues the weighted monetary policy within the next two years, then the state debt rates will decreased, after which the banks will automatically start lending the private sector”.
According to him, the bank do not need to finance individuals or private companies, while the state generates high revenues to state papers. “It is better to lend money to the state, it is less risk. Who in Ukraine can afford to take out a mortgage loan today? To take out the loan for seven years at 20% is not real. It is more real at 10%”, Malige told.
