In the meantime, it is suggested increasing the fine.
The Cabinet of Ministers suggests that the Verkhovna Rada should cancel the administrative arrest for illegal production, acquisition, storage, transfer of drugs and psychotropic substances without the purpose of sale in small amounts, according to the draft law №6401, registered in the Rada on April 20, Ukrainian News report.
The relevant amendments are suggested introducing to the Code of Administrative Offences.
The current version of the article 44 stipulates that the illegal production and acquisition of drugs is punishable by a fine of up to 25-50 times the minimum wage (425-850 hryvnias) or from 20 to 60 hours of community service, or the administrative arrest of up to 15 days.
The Cabinet of Ministers suggests excluding the regulation on the administrative arrest and increasing the minimum amount of fine from 25 to 30 tax-exempt minimums (510 hryvnias).
The draft law also stipulates the cancellation of administrative arrest for driving the disabled vehicle and maneuvering a ship in a state of intoxication.
In addition, the administrative arrest is suggested cancelling in case if the individual violated the procedure of organization of meetings and demonstrations again.
The government also suggests decreasing the time of appeal hearing in cases over the application of administrative arrest from 20 to 3 days.
