The Pentagon launches the special program “Hack the Air Force” and invites computer security specialists from the USA and chosen partner countries to attempt to hack key websites of U.S. Air Force, RIA News reports.
The US Department of Defense noted that the initiative “is the part of cybersecurity campaign, sponsored by the informational office of air forces, for attraction of “talents inside and beyond the Department of Defense”.
“This external approach on detecting our vulnerable places in security, which is based on the talent and experience of our citizens and citizens of partner countries, will contribute to the strengthening of our cybersecurity”, - General David Goldfein, Air Force Chief of Staff, told.
According to Head of Informational Security Peter Kim, the hackers “with evil intents” “try to hack (Pentagon’s) systems every day”.
“We hope that the friendly hackers will attempt (to hack systems) and show us how to improve our cybersecurity and the defensive position”, Kim added.
